Finding your Roots: A Somatic Invitation

Are you an expat looking to feel grounded abroad? Sarah Grosso, clinical counsellor at Metamorphosis can show you how

Travel and international life have always been part of my story. Moving between different places and cultures has been a source of great joy and adventure, and I have also experienced the challenges and grief these transitions can bring.

In my work as an anthropologist and counsellor working with global citizens and expats, I frequently see the hidden challenges and physical toll of living a nomadic life.

You may have built a beautiful life and make it look easy to those around you. However, inside, your mind might be racing, you feel constantly braced and tense and you may not feel physically present, even when you are in your own home.

Physically arriving in a new place is only part of the journey. The next step is to give your nervous system the permission and support it needs to come into land. We often think of resilience as being akin to flexibility. Like a reed in the wind, true resilience comes from having deep, steady roots, so we can approach life with confidence, whatever the weather.

This is why I created ROOT: an intimate, 4-week live, somatic circle, where we practice coming into land together and start working towards creating an unshakable feeling of home within your own body.

If you feel rootless or as if you are constantly spinning in survival mode, you are so welcome here:

Sarah Grosso,

M.A. Counseling. MBACP. PhD Anthropology. Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in training (completing September 2026).
