Presenting Wendy Nyawade, neurodivergent specialist & clinical counsellor at Metamorphosis
Are you neurodivergent and needing support?
Wendy Nyawade is a psychological counsellor based in Zug who specializes in supporting neurodivergent teens and adults. Throughout her work, she has come to recognize that practical tools and strategies, while valuable, are not always enough—and in some cases, they can unintentionally reinforce the very patterns that contribute to psychological distress.
Many neurodivergent individuals have spent much of their lives learning how to appear more neurotypical. They have developed countless strategies to fit in, meet expectations, and compensate for challenges that others may not see. Wendy validates the need for strategies while noticing that without a foundation of self-understanding, practical tools can sometimes become just another way of asking neurodivergent individuals to push themselves harder. Leading to self-criticism, exhaustion and a growing sense that they must constantly work harder to be accepted.
This is why self-compassion and energy management are at the heart of Wendy’s approach. Rather than, “How can I do better?” She often encourages clients to reflect on, “What is happening for me?” and “What do I need?” Curiosity creates space for greater self-awareness, acceptance, and emotional wellbeing.
Equally important is energy management. Neurodivergent individuals are often expected to manage their time but rarely asked to manage their energy. Learning to recognize personal capacity, anticipate recovery needs, and work with the nervous system rather than against it are central to Wendy’s approach.
Beyond managing day-to-day challenges, therapy can provide the space to better understand oneself, develop a more compassionate relationship with the nervous system, and create a life that feels sustainable and aligned.
If you have been wondering whether you might be neurodivergent, or are looking for support from someone who specializes in this area, Wendy would welcome the opportunity to walk alongside you as you better understand yourself and build a life that works with who you are, rather than against it.
Wendy Nyawade, M.A.
